On reading Ovid, I am aware of how the moral of Icarus' tale is oft misconstrued.
We read it as: " Do not fly too close to the sun".
Just as true: "do not make wings from wax".
Daedalus insisted on mediocrity from Icarus. And Icarus' ambition was, in turn unsupported by his father's craft.

Day 5 of the covid hurkle-durkle. Locked in the bedroom because the wife doesnt have it, and our apartment is very smol after the fire displacement. Catching up on Rik Mayall shows i never watched and writing, but the clock is starting to point at cabin fever.

Its cool seeing all the new posters for Beetlejuice 2, but if they dont call the NEXT one "Threetlejuice", I go on a rampage.

Imagine taking all that time and money as a CBC paid journalist to take potshots at an icon and champion of indigenous justice. There might be room on Fox News for that kind of white ass gocha clickbait, but keep that kind of crap off the CBC.

Yesterday was.... let's just say, between narrowly escaping death by immolation, and finding out my short film "Gjalp" has been nominated for a Toronto Indie Shorts award, I'm a bit confused about how to feel.

As much as "Call Me By Your Name" was an intensely beautiful film with some great pro LGBTQ material, it's also a depiction of pedophilic grooming, normalizing a crime based on the consent of a minor.

Sometimes, closure comes from getting answers. Sometimes, it comes from closing the door.

Stepped out to grab a beer from the depp (the depaneur across the road from me is actually called "johnny depp") and caught a ferlie in me eye. A double rainbow framing the block (the the cam only sees single).

Gjalp got nominated for an Art Film Spirit Award! We didnt win (maybe it was the animatronic foetus), but the nomination warms my heart.
