The deployment of US troops to American cities is, as these Members of Congress correctly put it, “deeply antithetical to our country’s founding values of liberty and justice.”

America’s armed forces have taken an oath to defend us. They deserve better than to be used as political pawns.

For me, I think about the families I’ve met whose loved ones I served with. Those who still live with that loss from Iraq, Afghanistan, and beyond.
