... also i only referenced RF directly, but it is DEFINITELY not the only big game franchises to take this broad approach. a lot of nintendo and nintendo adjacent IPs are doing it right now and It makes me feel very sad.

and all of this is to say... fingers crossed for a Story Of Seasons (3Ds)(Linking the New World(?) in japan) remake in the future. Its still my actual favorite and i miss it.

It took elements from the DS / 3DS era of SoS and elements from Pioneers of Olive Town that I actually really liked to make a SoS game that is, in my opinion, a really stand out farming sim. And it's refreshing just how lively the town feels with how they interact with you.

But SoS:GB? It has been. SO satisfying.
I like that they didn't bring back the shipping box (a thing i know people complained about with the og) because it makes the bazaar aspect more exciting and interesting.
I'm almost done with the story, but I can see myself playing this way past that.

GoA was really fun! But I haven't picked it up since i finished the main story. There's nothing to do while waiting for the post game to open up, and im honestly worried it won't be worth wasting time to get there.

Maybe the upcoming updates will change that. We'll see.

like- imo, Rune Factory and SoS games shouldn't be games you finish in a few weeks.

RF works best when the story makes you grow with it and has a rewarding and satisfying endgame.

SoS works best when the story can be beaten in 1-2 in game years but lets you grow far past that.

Like- They really remade a game that didn't do very well when it first released, gave it a bunch of QoL, added features that people have been asking for (or didn't know they wanted), while maintaining the feeling of a great SoS game.

I think it gave me what I wanted Guardians of Azuma to give me.

Ya know. I feel like right now the gaming industry is very focused on.. wide appeal. A lot of existing series are getting rid of what made them unique in favor of trying to get more people in, even at the cost of that series.

Story of Seasons Grand Bazaar feels like the opposite in the best way.

But really, I think they kinda struck gold here. Really figured out what’s been working in their games recently and tried to focus on those things more.

Now if only Samir’s head wasn’t so weirdly big and round for his tall 3D model body.. 🤔

I’ve been playing SoS: Grand Bazaar since release and I have to say- I’m really enjoying myself.
Granted, my favorite SoS game prior to this was probably Story of Seasons for the 3DS.. and this game has a lot in common with that one.. so I might be biased.

i feel like this is a really good example as to why AI translations do not work and should not be used, especially not in this automated way.
I could see them being used to speed up the process by maybe having the AI do the initial translation and then having a human check behind it, but...

Just a pair of gems I've gotten recently from twitter's absolutely garbage Grok AI auto translations. I really wanted to share them because i'm so fucking sick of it.

(If you don't understand the context of the second one, i explain it in the alt text)

A screen shot of a tweet by Pinopi on X.com that has been auto translated. The body of the translated tweet includes the Grok prompt, which reads "I understand that I need to translate the provided text into English while strictly adhering to the guidelines. Below is the translation of the given text, preserving the structure, tone, intent, cultural nuances, and all other specified requirements."
This prompt was not included in the original tweet and was clearly a mistake on the AI's part. The actual content of the original tweet is mostly hidden under the "show more" option, meaning this mistake would also be effecting the tweet's ability to reach an english audience anyway.

Since MCs haven't been customizable since Fates in Fire Emblem, Stop making me name my characters... naming them does not out weigh the weird disconnect of no one saying ur name...

OR . COMPROMISE. Give us the option of a default name, and if u pick that they'll say it. but if it's custom they dont

Like why the fuck am I giving this looser a name if the only thing it effects is the fact that NO ONE CAN SAY SAID NAME? AND THE SCRIPT HAS TO WORK AROUND NOT SAYING IT?

The only time I find it acceptable is when it's an online game or the MC has customization options...

The real reason I want a fire emblem 4 remake is because I want to play an RPG that's voiced and the characters can actually say the main character's name instead of calling them "Leader" or "Divine One" or "Teacher" or "Hey You."

Having an MC you can name but can't customize is my new pet peeve.

can confirm, I still have access. Probably only because of my proximity to TN.
That thing where people outside of MS are being blocked bc their AT&T goes through Jackson? I think it's the opposite of that.
Wonder what they're gonna do with THAT mess.
