We treat every non-fatal shooting in Saint Paul with the same urgency as a homicide. We’re solving more cases, cutting crime by double digits, and producing a record-low homicide rate—proving this action-driven approach creates safer outcomes.
St. Paul solved more crimes, had drastically fewer homicides in 2025
A remarkable shift is under way in St. Paul. The city is on track for a 70 percent drop in homicides by the end of 2025. And they’re solving more than 70 percent of crimes.

We are humbled to work alongside Native elders and leaders to preserve sacred spaces like Wakan Tipi Awanyankapi, elevate Indigenous voices through art and storytelling, and preserve this land’s history for generations to come. (2/2)

Saint Paul resides on the ancestral lands of the Dakota and Ojibwe. It is known as Imníža Ska, or White Cliffs, and is part of Mni Sota Makoce—the land where the waters reflect the clouds. Recognizing Indigenous names honors their heritage, but true respect demands action. (1/2)

The Alliance Bank Center site is critical to the future of our entire city. This strategic investment by the Downtown Saint Paul Development Corporation is a monumental step forward. This project will create good jobs while supporting needed growth right in the center of our downtown.

Nearly four years to the day, this is a next step toward justice for those injured and the loved ones of Marquisha Wiley, whose life was stolen that night. This sets a precedent for holding gun sellers accountable and preventing firearms from getting into the wrong hands. (2/2)

Our straw purchase lawsuit is going to trial. A judge ruled @ag.state.mn.us’s evidence is strong enough to take Fleet Farm to court for enabling straw gun purchases—weapons used in the horrific Truck Park mass shooting in 2021. (1/2)

I am deeply concerned workers were arrested on a Saint Paul job site today by masked agents who refused to identify themselves. This secretive, fear-driven enforcement has become a hallmark of the president’s approach. It has no place in our country.

I am deeply concerned by workers being arrested on a Saint Paul job site today by masked agents who refused to identify themselves. This kind of secretive, fear-driven enforcement has become a hallmark of the president’s approach—and it has no place in our city or our country.

Let me be clear: Saint Paul Police will never be used as immigration enforcement. Our officers will always identify themselves, and they will always wear clearly visible SPPD markers.

Everyone—regardless of citizenship or immigration status—has rights in this country. You have the right to remain silent. You have the right to refuse entry to your home without a warrant signed by a judge. You have the right to an attorney. And you have the right to be treated with dignity and respect.

Saint Paul is a city built by and for immigrants. We will not be intimidated, and we will not turn our backs on our neighbors.

The thing about @mayorcarter.bsky.social and Habitat last year is that he didn’t just show up for a photo or two and tap out. He was there for hours, working hard.

This week, a federal judge blocked the Trump administration from withholding critical grant dollars from Saint Paul and 10 other jurisdictions. The court affirmed what we’ve always known: a president cannot hold hostage funding to force compliance with a political agenda.

Shanah Tova to all our Saint Paul neighbors celebrating Rosh Hashanah! May this new year be a time of renewal and a reminder of the spirit that makes our city thrive together.

We’re repurposing vacant buildings into housing. We’re creating new parks and green spaces. We’re opening new restaurants, bars, and retail. We’re driving $1 billion of development in downtown Saint Paul. This is relentless revitalization in action.

Our goal from the beginning of the cyber incident has been clear: restore systems safely and securely. That’s exactly what this milestone reflects. Public internet is a lifeline for so many. And the tireless efforts of our city workers keep Saint Paul moving forward more resilient than ever.

As we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, we’re reminded that each of us plays a role in making our city a home for all. We honor the culture, music, food, and community spirit our Hispanic neighbors share, and all the ways you shape Saint Paul in powerful ways.

This same sense of unity calls us to recommit to our shared humanity and honor their legacy by pushing our country forward with courage, compassion, and purpose. We are always stronger together. (2/2)

We will never forget the heroism and bravery of all those who lost their lives on September 11 in New York City, Washington, D.C., and Pennsylvania. In those moments of unspeakable horror, we came together—as Americans, as one nation. (1/2)

Short-term words of condolences alone are not enough. Our leaders must actively and loudly reject the idea that those with differing views are the enemy. (2/2)

I’m sickened by the murder of Charlie Kirk and hold his family in my prayers during this unimaginable nightmare. Political violence is destroying us. Our nation was built on the right to hold personal beliefs and debate freely without fear of retribution. (1/2)

The time for inaction is over. We are moving forward in Saint Paul with decisive action to prevent gun violence. Minnesotans support the common sense protections proposed in our ordinance—state law blocks them. The moment preemption is lifted, Saint Paul will be ready.

We've just unveiled a stunning new addition to downtown—Pedro Park! Once the site of Pedro Luggage Center, the site was a wonderful gift from the Pedro family, who generously donated the property back in 2009.
