They're shrimp-ly the best! 🏆 Our Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp took home a lot of hardware this year winning both the International League and AAA Championships. We were honored to add one more piece to their trophy case as we presented the Jumbo Shrimp a key to the city today at City Hall. (1/2)

As part of the Vision Strong Duval launch, they’re making a remarkable gift to our city: 300 pairs of protective glasses for the men and women of the JFRD with 1,500 more to come! We’re so grateful for the innovation and community spirit driving this important effort forward. (2/2)

It was wonderful to launch the Vision Strong Duval initiative today at City Hall. This is a project born from U.S. Navy veteran Anthony Miles, who experienced vision challenges during his service on a nuclear submarine. After retirement, he founded a protective eyewear line called Firstline (1/2)

More than 6,000 affordable homes have been built, or are in progress since I took office. Back in June, we broke ground on 5 brand-new, single family homes in Durkeeville and today, just 98 days later, they are finished and ready for families to move in. (1/2)

It was amazing to see NFSEE's horse-powered reading program firsthand. Students with intellectual differences learn to read while guiding horses, stopping at words and phrases along the way. Thanks to the teachers and staff for helping the next generation of leaders find a love for reading. (2/2)

Readers are leaders and I was so thrilled to spend some time with the young leaders at the North Florida School For Special Education this afternoon. After we read, the kids got to visit the River City Readers Bookmobile and take home a new book for themselves. (1/2)

We have a solemn duty in Jacksonville: to make sure our Gold Star families always know that this city is their family, too. We will keep remembering your loved ones. We will keep honoring their sacrifice. And we will keep lifting you up in gratitude and love.

What a wonderful time at the 2nd annual Unidos Jax Dinner last night.  It was a beautiful celebration of our Hispanic community and all the ways they shape Jacksonville. Hispanic Heritage Month is also about unity. Unidos means together and that is how we must move forward.
