I feel kinda weird for knowing this but the girl who won is from Denmark ๐ฉ๐ฐ๐๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ Saw it on a Danish news program for children that me and my kids watch (honestly a lot more wholesome than anything adult news programs report these days).
Definitely agree - it was interesting being expats in the US and I loved being abroad as a family sharing that experience but I am so grateful to be a European citizen and have our kids grow up back here ๐ฏ๐ช๐บ๐ฉ๐ฐ

This!! Weโre Danish but lived in the US as expats a few years ago. Adding up all the different kind of taxes in the US combined with all the other stuff we had to pay for separately left us with less disposable income than ever ๐คฏ The US wages were higher than in Denmark but we had never been poorer!

Have you tried reaching out to Hans Island? I suspect Denmark and Canada who share this island will be very forthcoming and sympathetic to the penguin cause ๐ฉ๐ฐ๐จ๐ฆ๐

I read an article about this earlier today. It also specifically mentioned soybeans which we apparently import *a lot of* from Louisiana, but the article said it was a product that we in the EU can easily get from other countries. Tobacco and sugar were also mentioned.

Thatโs what a lot of us are telling ourselves here in Europe too - Putin in our backyard and the US no longer an ally but at least we arenโt Americans ๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ

I just finished it and Iโm in awe. Itโs so fascinating how it balances delicately between poetic and unbearable. All the parallels to current events are definitely scary but I really like the main characterโs perspective. I definitely want to read the sequel. Did you read the next one too?

Iโm only a few chapters in but itโs already quite eerie. Iโm readying a translation in my own language so I donโt know if this quote is completely accurate in English but I almost gasped at this part: โThe Secretary of Space doesnโt need to know anything about science, only politicsโ ๐

That is funny ๐ But I also remember hearing that there are a lot of different types of readers - and especially โmood readersโ are more like to be reading multiple books at the same time because they are looking for something to match their mood at that moment. Whatever works, I guess โค๏ธ๐

Haha, most of the time yes ๐ Sometimes Iโll have an audio book for my commute to work and a paper book at home but I rarely juggle more than that ๐

Is it Polish soldiers or Ukrainian soldiers he will be training? As a European I know I have read news stories about how some of the equipment we are providing for Ukraine is different from what they have so our soldiers also train theirs - and this training also takes place outside Ukraine.

I actually chatted with an employee at one of the stores today and they did mention that there is a similar โDanish productโ sign coming too. So specifically Danish products will be recognizable as well as just European products in general.

Agree ๐ But itโs not just food - some of the bigger stores carry a lot of other products as well (more like the selection in a store like Target). I only needed a few things so I didnโt go through the entire store but I also saw the stars in the aisle with beauty products and personal hygiene.
