My first #portfolioday on Bluesky! I'm a comic artist and illustrator with a lot of different styles. Sometimes I make stuff that's horror inspired, sometimes it's really cute.

My guiding moonlight…
So that's Versus so far! I'd still like to work on it more in the future if I ever find the space for it! I still think it would be easiest for me to do it as a full comic but my dream is to turn it into a real fighting game one day. Hope you thought the ideas were at least cool/interesting! [18/18]
Finally here's a few initial designs for some other minor characters that appear in the first story draft. This cop lady and the reporter girl from the desert bandit fight. There are other minor characters who didn't really get to the design stage and currently only exist as scribbles. [17/18]
King's intro was originally drawn up but actually cut from what ended up being the initial draft of the comic. In 3 pages, I wanted to introduce him as a dark character who carries the burden of a country on their back. [16/18]
This character is the king of a war-torn country. His design was sort of a mish-mash of several different homages to other comic villains. He seeks enough power to overwhelm his enemies as a way to keep his country safe from invasion, but his true intentions are not so noble. [15/18]
A sickly young woman unwittingly possessed by the parasitic fungus she wears for a hat. The spores put her into a trance-like state while it uses her body to move around. She is unaware of what happens in this state. She doesn't know anything about the promethian flame but the fungus does... [14/18]
Kung-fu Gargoyle. He is the minion of a powerful demon who was banished to a lower realm. He is weak by himself but by performing specific tasks can receive temporary buffs and abilities during battle. His wish is to free his master from the lower realm so he can reign once more. [13/18]
This character is a hacker and techno-terrorist. Unlike Gramps her arm doesn't use nanotechnology, it's a fully functioning robotic arm. If she obtained the promethian flame her wish would be to wipe all trace of her identity across the globe. [12/18]
For example; this character is an alien that crash landed on our planet. Their ship uses an element that doesn't exist on earth as fuel, so their wish is to be able to return home. They fight by spawning bubble octos to annoy. Based on minion/puppet-style fighting game characters. [11/18]
The promethian flame is an ancient relic that under specific circumstances can grant a single wish once every century. The idea is that the characters in the story are fighting each other for the chance to be the one to make the wish. Some characters have more selfish wishes than others. [10/18]
The following characters don't appear in the original outline for the first comic, but were intended to be expanded on later. This character was designed as a sort of final boss. A cult leader with the physique of a god shrouded by shadow. The events of the story surround this man. [9/18]
A character designed to manipulate energy as well as people. In the comic she appears briefly as a thief who can change her appearance using her magic powers. She was even a pirate captain at one point. She resembles a young woman but what is her true appearance? [8/18]
Gramps developed the nanotech arms, which were stolen by our main character. He gets pissed when he finds out the kid stole his prototype arm, so he spends the story hunting him down. He can also fly via little jet boosters on his arms. [7/18]
Techno Gramps. An old dude who works as a tinkerer. Gramps has a beloved granddaughter who hangs around him all the time. This character archetype was based on a bruiser or grappler, which is a staple in fighting games. Many characters in this world use technological augmentation. [6/18]
In the comic, he was used for the main action fight scene throughout the second half of the story. The punchy-arm kid has to fight him in gladiator style combat in order to win a prize while the ninja was the defending champion. [5/18]
This guy is an amnesiac ninja with a mummy motif ala the bandages. Fighting games usually include edgy rival characters with shadowy pasts. I wanted him to be kind of ugly though instead of a standard anime pretty boy. He uses the bandages and giant shuriken like a sort of flail. [4/18]
Early on there's a scene where he beats up some desert bandits who underestimate him because he's a kid. It's a pretty standard joke, especially if you've read old Akira Toriyama books. The girl he rescues ends up becoming a sort of companion. [3/18]
This guy was designed as sort of a mascot type character. A very simple punch-dude kind of archetype. His left arm is a stolen piece of nanotech that gets bigger (and stronger) when he takes damage. He also drives some kind of a crab mecha. I like the idea of machines resembling animals. [2/18]
In 2024 I did an exercise where I designed a bunch of characters for a fighting game that doesn't exist (tentatively called VERSUS). I even went ahead and thumbnailed around 100 pages of comic story. One day, I might revamp and finish it or something. Here's a thread of some of the ideas [1/18] 🧵
Saw Nosferatu with the gf and she’s too scared to sleep tonight so looks like we’re doing an all-nighter tonight while I draw lil Orloks.
