Despite the rain moving us indoors, our Germantown community came together last week to celebrate Hanukkah with music, light, and a shared Can-Orah built from donated food. A festive evening rooted in generosity, resilience, and community. 🕎

As the holidays approach, Montgomery County is reminding residents that giving local matters. 🎁

The Montgomery Gives Local campaign connects people with nonprofits across the County that are seeing more demand for food, housing, and basic needs.

Today, I signed the HERO Act to ensure families of first responders who die in the line of duty receive survivor benefits quickly, fairly, and without red tape. This law honors their sacrifice by making sure their loved ones are supported when they need it most.

This week, I signed Expedited Bill 31-25 to strengthen tenant protections in Montgomery County. By increasing eviction notice from 6 to 14 days & requiring landlord notification to the County, we can connect residents to resources sooner & help prevent homelessness.

The terrorist attack in Australia that targeted Jewish people on the first night of Hanukkah is horrifying and deeply disturbing. Montgomery County stands firmly against antisemitism, hate, and political violence in all forms.

I had the honor of celebrating GeorgiAnna “Mother Bernice" Martin’s 100th birthday in Olney. Born in 1925, she has spent a lifetime serving this community, her church, and Montgomery County. We’re better because of elders like her who carry our history and wisdom forward.

Our County Executive’s Office team pitched in this Thanksgiving to support local families through 4 Season Giving Tree. We hope the families enjoy the baskets as much as we enjoyed putting them together. Grateful to work with such a generous, caring team.
