Thanks FedEx for turning my mother’s birthday gift into a treasure hunt.

I guess I’m making Thanksgiving dinner for a household of Vietnamese (my husband’s family & friends). Since I have to buy it tomorrow, I’ll be taking shortcuts: canned cranberry sauce & boxed stuffing & store-bought pie, but I will do turkey legs, sweet potatoes, & brussel sprouts with bacon.

You’ve been kidnapped. The characters from the last TV show you watched are trying to rescue you. Who’s coming to save you?

I feel better already. Hopefully they will leave Quark at home. I don’t have any latinum on me.

Lt. Valeria Williams on xenophobes in Bennett’s ENT novel Rise of the Federation: Live by the Code: “Left to herself, she could take on a mob of rampaging xenophobes every day and chalk it up to exercise; there were surely no categories of life-form more satisfying to punch in the face than bigots.”

Finished reading Kirsten Beyer’s VOY relaunch novel Unworthy. I forgot how much I enjoyed this novel the first time 10 years ago. Beyer really knows how to write Voyager. The only thing I don’t like is Cambridge taking a romantic interest in Seven who seems interested. Yuck. He’s her therapist.

I really wish my city would do a better job at telling us about the holiday sanitation schedule. They combined Monday and Tuesday pick up this week, and as the garbage truck went by my house I realized what happened and checked online. Yup pick up was today instead of the normal Tuesday pick up.

It’s somewhat frustrating dealing with a student who always most gets something but just isn’t willing to let go of their preconceived notions to open up their minds to new possibilities and ways of thinking.

Honestly that sounds like most of my interactions with people irl in general.

I have no idea why Charlie Brown seems to showing up a lot on my feed this evening. I must be missing something.

Finished reading William Leisner’s excellent TOS novel The Shocks of Adversity. Kirk and crew get rescued by a ship from the Goeg Domain. At the first it seems like the Domain is another Federation. But it turns out the Domain is the 20th/21st United States in space. 10/10

I would be very happy if I woke up in the morning and read that ProctorU had gone bankrupt and was forced to suspend all operations.

I would also wonder what happened to all the money they earned from not giving students refunds.

I hate to be a Scrooge. But I’m already tired of Christmas. It’s a reminder that the fourth anniversary of my dad’s death is coming up on December 21. I don’t hate Christmas, but I’m also kind of annoyed by the whole season.

It is really beyond the ability of some adults to put dishes into a drainer properly or to remove and dry them when there isn’t enough room to prevent breakage.

Following basic directions especially in an online class is underrated. Those directions are there for reason. I’m not some authoritarian ruler who can do whatever he wants in class. I have to follow rules as well.

Must be sports ball season. My colleagues are talking loudly and passionately about grown men doing something with a ball.

Yeah I can’t take having four other adults living in my house anymore. I would love some peace and quiet in the evenings with just my husband and my dog. I miss quiet.

Share a Christmas movie.

I know it’s not technically a movie, but because our antenna could not pick up any channel that carried Trek, the first time that I was able to watch Encounter at Farpoint was on a VHS tape I received for Christmas.

Trump’s idea of a 50-year mortgage once again shows how out of touch he is with reality and with ordinary people. A 50 year mortgage? You will never really own the house, and you will never retire.
