Tormenta kept their USL2 team after turning pro though. As far as I've understood, that won't be the case for Sarasota or Fort Wayne.

The recent teams that have moved to pro after qualifying and have fielded both pro and amateur teams in the ensuing USOC (Irvine Zeta 2024, Club de Lyon 2023) were local qualifiers and came in via NISA. My gut says USL isn't gonna operate that way when they have direct control.

I'd expect Sarasota Paradise and Fort Wayne FC to decline spots (or not be offered them at all by USL) as they're both moving to USL League One next year and would get a spot by default.

Cuban goalkeeper Raiko Arozarena didn't travel to Cuba for this week's key World Cup qualifier vs Bermuda, fearing he wouldn't be let back into the US where he plays for Las Vegas Lights. Cuba lost 2-1 and are now out of the World Cup. US policy affected the integrity of the tournament once again.
