Last night, my son asked me, "Hey, are we doing that thing again this year? Where we grant wishes for kids in foster care?" (I get to finally call him my "son" because his adoption was finalized in July—10 full YEARS after he was initially placed with us.) www.onesimplewish.org/giving/megwa...

The after-school program that was a lifeline for my then-foster/newly adopted son just lost its funding. "On July 1, the federal government froze payments to states that include 21st CCLC funds. These payments were promised and are critical to keeping our program, and others like it, running."
