Cubans and other third-country nationals deported from the U.S. are being dropped off on the streets of Villahermosa, Mexico, where they struggle to survive.

Though Mexico receives these deportees, it does not give them any legal status to live or work there.

Maribel Lopez was supposed to be protected from deportation because she had a pending asylum case on appeal, after fleeing years of abuse in Guatemala. Instead, she was deported in error & left behind a 2-year-old son. Now back in the U.S., she remains in detention.
