I'm the Director of Library and Archives at the #MarshallFoundationLibrary; the happiest librarian in the world, but also a lone arranger. I love baking, books, Big Band, baseball. Aspiring knitter and experienced crocheter. Gardener #spacenerd

80 years ago today, the war ended for my father.
The horror did not. His truck company transported prisoners released from the concentration camps to the hospital centers.
My dad suffered depression the rest of his life in large part from his WWII experiences.

Hello, Monday!
What's on the #marshallfoundationlibrary agenda today?
A researcher working with the Frank Price collection.
Interviews w/ 2 summer interns.
A researcher working with the William & Elizebeth Friedman collections.
I might meet myself hurrying down the hallway today ...

Is this heaven?
No, it's Bark in the Park at the Salem Red Sox.
Nope. He loved riding, but for him it was a solitary activity, or with a few select friends.
Someone once asked me if George Marshall played golf. I know that he watched golf when he resided in Pinehurst, NC, but this is the only kind of golf he played, I think.

"Morale is a state of mind. It is a steadfastness and courage and hope. It is confidence and zeal and loyalty. It is staying power, the spirit which endures to the end. With it all things are possible."
Gen. George C. Marshall, in a speech at Trinity College June 1941
My dad was a Senators fan! He recalled their World Series in 1924, and took my mom to games while they were dating.
Honest question -- does a real id fix this issue? To get one I had to supply my birth certificate and marriage license.
Or I should I get a photocopy of my marriage license for portability?
George C. Marshall was a junior, named after his father. Although his father passed in 1909, Marshall still used "jr." for quite a few years. This may be one of the last documents on which he used it.

Yeah, I couldn't decide.
If you see this, please post a beach photo from your phone. Because it's Wednesday and we all need beach photos.
Welcome to the George C. Marshall Foundation Library. This is where I get to work!
Happy Opening Day! George Marshall was a big Philadelphia Athletics fan, but I am a D.C. girl.
I won't comment on the name, but the Army Women's Museum is still at Fort Gregg-Adams.
Selected by the research teams who wrote the 4-volume Pogue biography and published the 7-volume George C. Marshall Papers.
FTR, the entire U.S. Army Heritage and Education Center aka AHEC is offline.
Must be hell to be a military history researcher right now.

I am still here, and the #MarshallFoundationLibrary is open. The archives have 500+ collections 1910-1960. Also 1,000,000 NARA copies of that time.
Reach out.
I'm writing an article on the Women's Army Corps. I need some stats, so I go to the official U.S. Army page.
Try to navigate there: www.army.mil/women
The entire history of women serving in the U.S. Army has been removed from the official Army page.
REMOVED.
Elizabeth! Thank you so very much for your kind words. You know how much I love researchers!
This #CollectionsHighlight is an itinerary for a Business Advisory Council meeting attended by the Marshalls at the Homestead in Hot Springs, VA, in 1945. The Marshall had visited there in 1943, & had this photo taken by the balustrade seen in the postcard.
