There is one question: do we have enough resources to meet the basic needs of every person on the planet? If so, any system of government and economics that doesn’t orient itself towards achieving that purpose is inadequate

CHOTINER: This game you like to play, what's it called?

ME: Slay the Spire.

CHOTINER: And you play it on the computer?

ME: Yeah. Well, I also have it on my phone. I played another 300 hours.

CHOTINER: And these other games in your Steam library. Have you finished them?

ME: Now hold on a second,

Infectious joy, unapologetically ID’ing as a socialist, highlighting a policy that will concretely help constituents…this is the way
Today I'm so honored to earn the endorsement of @drichardsqns.bsky.social, who fights for the world's borough every day.

We recently rode the Q4 in Jamaica, one of the five bus lines made free in our fare free bus pilot. Ridership jumped 30%, and everyone's commute got a little bit easier.

Zohran didn't win by relying on standard turnout patterns. We had to fundamentally transform the Democratic electorate.

I was part of a group of NYC-DSA members that applied lessons from our previous campaigns to design the “universe” of voters to talk to. Here's how we won 🧵

It feels trite to sum up the implications of Zohran’s primary win as “a democratic socialist is the presumptive mayor in the global heart of capitalism,” but I think it’s a useful framing for the optimism and potential his victory has created

Reverse jinx worked 😅 I’m still in shock at last night’s results, but top line is it’s just the beginning of the next phase of work, and that’s exciting
Just some perspective regardless on who wins the mayor’s race: Zohran entered with minimal name recognition and no one thinking he had a legitimate chance to win, while Cuomo was the favorite before he even announced he was running

Amazing what happens when a candidate embraces their base instead of taking it for granted

I think people are misinterpreting TAH’s point here, especially if you are reposting today as a gotcha about the new war…I doubt TAH ever would have said that Harris was more likely to get us into a war than Trump, and his whole point was likely the opposite

Thinking about parallels with the Luca trade and Connolly getting the committee chair AOC wanted. It was a bad process and decision that wasn’t guaranteed to end terribly, but always had a worst case scenario that would make it look immediately insane in hindsight

Anecdotally, I have literally had a student stumble through the word oligarchy as they tried to describe the issues with our current society, but I think that points to a triumph of the term, not a reason to abandon it…it’s breaking through

Why did so many working class New Yorkers vote for Donald Trump last week — and even more not vote at all?

I went to Hillside Ave in Queens and Fordham Rd in the Bronx to find out. www.youtube.com/watch?v=K7Fc...
