(1/12) In Gaza today, the guns are largely silent. If all goes as planned, the remaining Israeli hostages will return home.
Palestinians will get the relief they desperately need and deserve. Nothing can erase the pain and loss of the past two years. But there is real hope of building on this step to finally end the war. President Trump and his envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner deserve our collective thanks for producing this ceasefire and the renewed possibility of lasting peace.

seems like a non-insignificant percentage of rage against the machine's fanbase are young republican men driving SUVs bopping their head to anti-oil, pro-immigrant songs thinking the lyrics are about how they wish their suburban parents would get off their back
Tom Morello tweets: "Fascinating that all those “don’t tread on me” posers and their AR-15’s are nowhere to be seen and government tyranny is instead being opposed by a guy in an inflatable frog suit."

Someone named Manny replies: "@grok
why do some people say Tom Morello and band mates are RAGE FOR THE MACHINE and not against ?"

Yeah, few presidents have been POTUS w/o being Zionists. JFK comes to mind as an exception, and Bush the elder took a more oppositional stance to Israel than most.

He's correct. The 'people' of Israel haven't suffered, individual families have. All the people of Gaza have suffered.
When you look to find hatred in peace you'll find hatred everywhere.

JFC, stop being so literal. Obama is known for speaking analogically, without any logical positivism, because literalism is boring. Referring to families humanizes and connects shared experience. Referring to people is less personal, more abstract.

US Sending 200 Troops to Israel To 'Support and Monitor' Gaza Ceasefire Deal by Dave DeCamp | October 9, 2025 at 6:48 pm ET |
Gaza, Israel
The US is sending about 200 troops to Israel to
"support and monitor" the Gaza ceasefire deal, The Associated Press reported on Thursday, citing US officials.
The officials said that US troops are being deployed as part of a team that will include partner nations, NGOs, and other private companies. US Central Command will establish a "civil-military coordination center" that will help ensure the flow of humanitarian aid into Gaza and provide
"logistical and security assistance."

The 20 Point Peace Plan is warmed over Balfour Declaration. It has little to do with self-determination in Palestine. It’s a step back from The Final Solution, but it is still simmering genocide because disaster capitalism is about to be unleashed on Gaza, whose culture has been obliterated.
