A nice self-seeded and hopefully self-seeding corner, all edible. Tree spinach 'Magenta Spreen' (Chenopodium giganteum) and pot marigold (Calendula officinalis), both sown last year. Nasturtiums were added this season.

Brr, the wind was nippy today. I was all swaddled up like a toddler. The only thing missing was a string across my back, tying my gloves together.

If you're in Dolgellau and look up towards Cadair Idris you can hardly miss it as it glows on the hillside above the town.

After the rains came, the views were somewhat diminished, and spirits dampened.

What's in the pot!

Using up the last of the homegrown tomatoes and not nearly the last of the local apples. It's a variation on the infinitely mutable seasonal chutney recipe from the River Cottage preserves handbook, or 'glutney', as it's otherwise known.

I've been walking past this tree for some time, casually assuming it was some manner of holly. Until today, when I noticed it had acorns! It's a Holm oak - Quercus ilex (the specific epithet ilex is the generic name for hollies). As with most oaks this year, it's heaving with nuts.
