Alors que nous venons d’avoir une bordée de neige (relative mais pas mal pour le New Jersey central en comparaison avec les dernières années) je vous envoie les couleurs d’automne qui ont précédé. Les deux vidéos de la neige viennent tout juste d’être postée sur YouTube. Et cette nuit tout a fondu à cause de pluies torrentielles encore, de plus il fait chaud, 12 / 13 degrés C alors que les températures ont été en négatif sans passer en positif de la journée en début de semaine. Un veritable yo-yo.

Very easy and delicious meal for all seasons actually, as I enjoyed it once again yesterday night with snow on the ground in Central New Jersey.

Chateau Ste Michelle Washington State Columbia Valley Rosé 2024 Rosé season is officially past but not for me : actually my favorite season to drink rosé wines is… winter, even more so when it’s gloomy or better snowy outside. It’s like a bowl of summer warmth and fruits — a comforting contrast with the elements. The best would be to drink a rosé when there is a howling blizzard outside but we haven’t had any in almost a decade, that’s another story. Even though I drink some rosé in summer and early fall, I will finish the majority of my summer rosé shopping spree in winter, say end of November and on, into December, January and February.

Another recipe that is becoming a favorite of ours: a simple but deliciously tasty spiced carrot salad. Very easy and delicious salad that I have made twice in August. It has also been great for my bento box at work during my long evening shifts at the brewery. It's a great way to eat carrots and a good change from shredded or soup, I will prepare it regularly. It’s also an all season salad recipe, you can totally enjoy it in winter and even do the cooking part in the regular oven to warm up the house.

La suite de ma randonnée, après la rencontre avec l’ours (puis un coyote) dans les 2 premiers kilomètres a été sans évènements notoires. Belle randonnée assez facile avec de superbes vues sur plusieurs lacs ( 4 en tout), mais je me suis dit que je n’allais pas poser mon sac à dos et m’arrêter pour manger, et certainement pas sortir de nourriture de mon sac ! Quand je suis arrivée au second lac (Crater Lake) il y avait un parking et quelques voitures alors j’ai pensé que je pouvais quand même manger là.
