If there’s one motto I have for how I deal with my lab people, it’s definitely “I protect the family.” (I hate when people say the lab is a family, but for poetic reasons I’ll let it stand!)

There aren’t enough Americans for all the research spots. The US has also cut back on training programs, so the situation is not going to improve on that front.

Sorry, but cancer patients can’t wait. Also the government is also killing education. So now we have nothing. (Not to mention the 90’sYanks were a perfect mix of homegrown and imports - Cone, Boggs, Tino, Giambi, ARod, Gooden, Wells…)

From what I understand, these are very difficult to get. It’s unlikely many people who are now on H1B would be able to get an O1.

That’s not true. Most of the work done by non-US scientists has to be done here. Especially now when international collaborations have been mostly banned by government. You can’t split cells remotely.
