I hope to destroy the stigma attached to #MentalHealth, fight to help those struggling with #Depression, and do all I can to end #Suicide.

I know it’s tough. I know you feel alone, your heart is broken, & you think you don’t matter. I know your mind is trying to convince you that we would be better off w/o you. I know we don’t say it as often as we should, but thank you for holding on. We need you. We love you.

You deserve a genuine smile. Not one that’s only there to keep the world from learning how much pain is hidden beneath it.

If the eyes are the window to the soul, then when you stare into the eyes of someone who’s suicidal, you’re watching a dangerous storm forming inside.

Don’t you love the people who have absolutely no understanding of what you’re experiencing, who are going to tell you how to solve all your problems? They have a PhD in “All You Got to Do” from the same school as the Little Engine That Could, I Think I Can University.

Hug the person next to you tightly and let them know that you love them, because if suicide has its way, it will be the last time you see them until their funeral.

While you’re trying to figure out what the perfect gift would be for your loved ones this holiday season try thinking outside the box, literally. Sometimes it’s not what’s purchased or the best wrapping that matters most; it’s you and the love that accompanies you.

Suicide due to depression knows no bounds. It doesn’t care who you are, what you have, or how much life you have left to live. It’s a demon that needs to be exorcised from our minds and destroyed. It doesn’t die when we do. It finds a new host and hopes to kill them too.

There are no bells to ring or chips to be earned, but surviving suicide due to mental illness is something that should be celebrated. Don’t be ashamed of your journey. Be proud that you overcame suicide and that you’re still here with us. We love you.

Sometimes, it's not the hottest item of the holiday season that your loved ones need most. When you're out there trying to find the latest and greatest gift, don't discount the love you can show each other, and how much it can mean to those who feel depressed and out of place this time of year.

Helping people without judgment is an amazing feeling, especially this time of year. If you’re able to, within your means, help someone with something they need. It can be financially, emotionally, or even mentally. Many people are struggling, & any help, in any form, could really help them smile.

Animals aren’t gifts to be forgotten or returned after the holidays. They’re a long-term commitment that requires preparation and understanding. I worked for a pet crematorium. I’ve witnessed firsthand how many animals are sent to the pound and destroyed at the beginning of each new year.

My pup, Mulan, got her haircut and is now waiting patiently for her McDonald's chicken nugget treat. Our furry family is such a blessing and definitely makes our journey through this life that much better.
