Tuesdays are early school dismissals for the boy. Shot down to Disneyland and it’s been… and adventure 😆 dunno what his deal is but we’re bordering on ‘this was a mistake!’

In any event, he and I are about to get our spines misaligned on Matterhorn. I can’t wait! Been 9 years since I’ve been on it!

Also, Doom Points from Tales of the Valiant are a fun way to add some use-any-time abilities to monsters that are kinda like legendary actions/reactions but can be less potent... or more 😁 With this new initiative, I can use them on the players turn to take an action or anything really.

While I've only run it this way with 2 games so far, it was easy to tell that almost immediately after they truly got the concept, they started strategizing with how to combo up their turns. It made it fun for me to watch this new revelation so I'm excited to see how it evolves.

It now just allows players to work with each other. One can take an action while another takes a bonus action while another is moving etc. The collaboration definitely keeps everyone engaged and alert much easier. Now, my monsters can do the same 😁

Yea, the waiting is always what gets my players. We typically play at night so when combat hits and it's not someone's turn, I can see sleepiness maybe creeping in. Everyone tries, I'll give them that. In all fairness, what I wound up doing doesn't really change things THAT much.

Forgot about this one-Thursday was favorite band t-shirt day at the boy's school. He didn't have any so I asked him what band he wants on his new t-shirt. He gave me an "uhmmm" for a few seconds and then shouted Iron Maiden. I pulled up a bunch and he excitedly picked this one. He's a good egg 😉

Came across a Reddit post about using group initiative. Thought I'd try it. Used it in one campaign's game 2 weeks ago and then another campaign's game last night. Both proved it to be massively successful. All players were visibly more engaged and on their toes. Will do more tests...

Wife wanted a “little thing” for our daughter’s first. Her father and his wife decided they’d step in and turn it into an excessive look at me show. Can’t wait until this is over.
