7/9 Phillies. * I tried for former Phillie Sixto Lezcano in the Brewers 6+WAR box. * I think the Brewers and Orioles are the only 2 teams that DON'T have a 6+ WAR guy who was a Phillie.
8. All Phillies and 7/9 Mets * i tried to do all Mets and all Phillies but fell short, hence the Francoeur and Abreu picks. * Dave Gallagher from Trenton, NJ which is nearly halfway between Philly and NY
Fernandomania was a cultural phenomenon. If he gets in, it would help my immaculate grid. Right now, there's ZERO Padre HOFers that played for the Phillies.
It's possible that none of them gets re-signed. I feel like JT and Kyle are the most likely, though I still feel like Kyle ends up in Cincinnati. Mayza is a local guy who might get a spring invite.
I agree about Andruw Jones. I think he gets docked because he was just an average player for the last 5 years of his career- Utley has the same issue. But both guys were elite and better than a lot of other HOFers.
I didn't know he managed for 1 day🤣. He's a good local guy but he never played for the Phillies. One day I'll do a grid of just Philly area guys. Christian Walker, Zac Gallen, Yesavage, Davis Schneider, Tom Filer, Ben Davis, John Marzano, Joey Wendel...
The Blue Jays (as a team) ground into more DPs than any other team. It's on-brand for them. The Phillies would've just struck out 3x in a row. The only common denominator was that ill-advised bunt.
It depends on where Schwarber wants to be. I'd love to keep him. But if he leaves, it gives us flexibility defensively. We can use the DH spot to give guys rest and play matchups better. That said, unless we use that $ to bring in a huge name, it's hard to imagine we'd be better without him.
Haha I didn't even notice that. They were the Binghamton Mets since forever. They must've rebranded recently. I remember thinking that MacLean (5-1) is pretty damn effective- his 1 loss was a 1-0 loss to the Phillies.
That's so cool. I've used Keefe before because he was a Phillie. Lefty O'Doul and Kid Gleason were legit pitchers as well. Those guys come in handy for those Saturday grids. Keefe had a 19.9 WAR one season.
