Matt Eberflus ran the most vanilla defensive zone schemes that worked when the defense full of high priced FAs and 1st/2nd rd draft picks were healthy, but the second there was a chink the armor, Flus couldn’t adapt and the D folded.

I’m so much more impressed with Dennis Allen as DC than I was Matt Eberflus. Esp with injuries, I think Allen doesn’t have THAT much to work with, and I’ve enjoyed the plays he schemes, even with penalties and poor execution by his players doesn’t cause success on a particular play or drive.

My oldest won third place in his age group for a half mile run series he competes in. He smoked everyone in the 4 races he ran and we ended up missing the 5th, so that DQ brought him down a few points. He also ended up third among ALL kids in the 5k he ran on Friday night. Lots of medals and awards!

I’ve always said I’ve just wanted Illinois to Minnesota - a consistent 6+ win team - every season. So far, those expectations have been exceeded.

I don’t mind, per se, Illinois being left off of the Top 25 this week because they do have two loses. But those loses are to the top ranked and 3rd ranked team. They’re a good team, but not close to The Cream of the Crop. That’s fine & a huge step forward from where this program was pre-Beilema.
