is this self-actualization? i think so. i'm chasing what i truly like, what i truly enjoy, and it's a wild combination of athletics, fashion, and performance that both makes me feel whole and part of something larger.

i can keep this going. this feels *right.*

i really can step forth in these expressive arenas, something i precluded myself from in my formative years. i've found so many who share similar passions here, too, genuinely driven by a vision.

i can DANCE, and it makes me so happy that i can simultaneously delight so many others in the act.

i don't have many photos, but good lord was this an important and exhausting convention. third place at the dance comp is unreal, but this is a sign, and a very valuable one that'll shape how i'll approach my creative ventures in the future.

honestly the entire ending paragraph hits hard as hell. I feel like this is the most I've ever seen someone that isn't a furry Get It.

Furry is about sex and desire, but at its core, it’s really about friendship—about the rare occasion of becoming actually
visible to another person. Making art is a fight to be seen, to determine the image of ourselves rather than exist constrained by the distorted images that dominate media; images that have nothing to do with what it actually feels like to be human. To live without that is death-in-life. What do we wish for our friends, who we love and who make our life worth living? That they stay alive in every sense. So, that is all to say that I really liked this work of neon text art that co-curator Hanover made for the windows of “Room Party,” drawn from this quote from Richard Adams’ novel Watership Down:

All the world will be your enemy, Prince with a Thousand Enemies, and whenever they catch you, they will kill you. But first they must catch you, digger, listener, runner, prince with the swift warning. Be cunning and full of tricks and your people shall never be destroyed.

May we be wise enough to embrace art as cunning, strange, and necessary as that in “Room Party.”
