Neil of Fortune

Rusty gets frustrated at the thought of the Bluebell valley line closing when Stepney returns to the mainland. While searching for another engine to run the line, he finds someone many thought was lost to time...

Happy 41st Thomas and Friends!

(story in alts)
“It’s not fair,” complained Rusty. “I do love a good run through the bluebell valley at springtime. But Stepney’s gone home, you see. The line will close without him for sure!”
“It’s no use getting grouchy about it.” said Skarloey. “Being a crosspatch will get you nowhere, it never did for me when I was a young engine.”
The little engine thought back to long ago.
“It’s a shame Neil isn’t around these days. I’m sure he would love to run that line. He’s not very strong you see, not like the big engines we see. He was taken out of service years ago, bless his soul.” So off they set, past the bleak and brooding line of diesels. They soon realised that the box shaped engine letting off steam was not a diesel. All eyes glared at the little engines.
“Where is he going?” the diesels hissed.
“Just down the line!” gulped Rusty.
The diesels took his word and their growls subsided. Rusty quickly guided Neil out of the yard, leaving an eerie chorus of engines purring contentedly in their wake.
“We’ve done it!” cried Neil through exhausted puffs. When Skarloey opened his eyes he was amazed!
“Well bless my soul!” he exclaimed. “If it isn’t Neil!”
“I wouldnae be here if not for yer wee friend.” said Neil.
Skarloey looked at the little diesel.
“You never,”
“I did!” grinned Rusty. “Neil will be perfect for the Bluebell valley.”
“You lucky old engine!” chuckled Skarloey. “Fancy being saved so long after retirement.”
The manager arrived to see what all the commotion was about. He was delighted to see Neil and promised his immediate restoration.

My first ever redraw of this early piece of Shawcroft's Titanic model used in Roy Ward Baker's A Night to Remember and tried to imitate the style of Alexander Reginald Payne.

A commission of a vintage-style railway poster featuring Duck on the Dartmouth steam railway! He enjoyed his summer visit pulling GWR railtours 😁

The client ordered a physical print for a private gift, but I'm able to share the artwork with you all 🙂

By popular demand, my Sodor railway art is now available in postcard form!

Each design has a different rear style, inspired by various eras of vintage railway postcards.

The info should all be here, but if you have any questions feel free to ask 🙂

I was commissioned to create this artwork of Edward pulling a 'failed' 98462, for @dburch01.bsky.social's story "Edward the Centenary Engine" celebrating both the Railway Series' 80th anniversary and Railway 200!

You can read it below. 🙂

New video premiering very soon! This week I cover the narrow gauge engine characters introduced in the HiT Model era, and try and figure out how they'd worked if they were in the Railway Series

Another Thomas artwork I did - this time on Daisy the Diesel Rail-Car. I got motivated by (you guessed it) the recent Sodor's Finest episode on her. The inspiration is from the CGI render w/ a little mix of her real basis and RWS w/ my own details added to the mix.

And forgot to mention that this is the first ever piece of me showing cross level between the rails on a grade to follow the way Main Line bends on the map.
milos15gameplays.bsky.social
While it's a maquette or rough draft of this piece and some bits may be missing or drawn incorrectly (like the size of the signal arm), I decided to show Gordon's first ever struggle on a steep grade that'd be named after him. My attempt at combining both Reginald Payne and Peter Edwards styles.

New video premiering in half an hour! I thought it would be a fun idea to translate the bios of Thomas characters into a bunch of different languages, then back into english, and draw the results!

Decided to do some colour corrections to these two illustrations by Alexander Reginald Payne from ClickClackTrack's archive. The goal is how these would look like if they were scanned with vibrant colours.

Forgot to mention that in this one, Titanic isn't the only one that moves. But also the iceberg as it's been pushed by current at a slow pace.

It's shocking when reading it from the same Twitter user who asked Ian (left), but overall I respect Ian's decision to retire from Mattel, and thank him for everything he's given us so far. From specials, a Thomas DLC for Train Sim World, pilot, etc.

I was scrolling through Twitter a while ago and apparently found out that... welp, McCue is gonna retire at the end of this year. Quite a shocker, but I respect his decisions regardless.

Thanks Ian McCue for your time on Thomas the Tank Engine. Even if the brand has gone through a rollercoaster journey, at least you cared about the original series, especially w/ the 1983 Down the Mine pilot.
