I really only know about it because of a line in some Australian drama, where the main character was complaining about having to go into the witness protection program.

“I don’t want to live in a caravan near Deniliquin!” :-)

Speaking of out there, I drove back home via Deniliquin ;-)

✨ Are you in Australia and do you like being able to see the sky at night?

The Australasian Dark Sky Alliance have submitted a petition to request parliament introduce legislation to control light pollution.

The petition is at www.aph.gov.au/e-petitions/...

If you plan to participate in this tutorial, you should install siril and download the image data that I have linked from the session page. It is 4GB of data and you will not be able to fetch it at the conference.

It would also be helpful if your laptop had an SSD with at least 30GB of free space.

I have some of their mounting rings and dovetail bars. Decent chunks of not hydrogen or helium that do exactly as they’re supposed to.

As the extreme radiation from these stars eats away at that dust, they erode bubbles inside.

This nebula is located in the sky about where Orions liver would be; close to his belt in the direction of his right shoulder - red Betelgeuse.

This nebula has been on my want-to-photograph list for a long time, I think it’s very pretty with its dark swirls.

Like many nebulae in Orion, it is a star forming region with bright blue young stars enshrouded in dark dust.

A dark dust lane crosses a dim starry background ground from bottom left to top right. Two bright blue cavities are embedded in the dust lane, a small one on the left and a much larger one in the center. Dark whirls of dust obscure some of them, but bright stars are just visible inside. The starlight reflecting off the dust is what is causing the blue glow. At the top right, small faint yellowish streaks and smudges in the dust *may* be baby stars in the process of forming.

I woke up at 4:30am and so decided to wander up the road a bit and catch #comet 2023 A3 Tsuchinshan-ATLAS.

It is definitely a naked eye object, tail and all. Very pretty!

The officeworks one arrived. Looks pretty nice, but not as nice as other prints I’ve gotten off RB.
Canvas print of the Uluru star trails photo. Detail of the Uluru star trails canvas print showing stars through a tree silhouette. Detail of the Uluru star trails canvas print showing stars trails on a neatly folded and tucked corner.

Also, I believe this means I am now a professional astrophotographer and that therefore all new camera and related acquisitions are tax deductible.

I’m getting mine printed at a local outfit. Should in theory be done some time next week. 🤞🏻
