Harry Turtledove! He is widely considered the “master of alternate history,” and the alien-during-WWII saga you are thinking of is his Worldwar series, starting with In the Balance (1994).

I was a pro photographer for 20+ years. Have a degree in product and studio photography. I was raised by two working artist parents. My father owns a gallery where I spent my formative years. I have forgotten more about art them most know. AI is just another medium.. Adapt or get left behind...lol

That is a common thought that people have, but the barrels are the key to the whole thing. The rubber is soft enough to not damage but strong enough to last. I have talked to the head engineer at covington engineering about this. There is a ton or research in it.
