I promise I won't spam your feed, talk about controversial topics or be a bother.
I'm making an #indiegame about #cribbage in #godot and I need help.
Help finding #playtest ers, fixing bugs and the like since this is my first game.
After today, I needed a break, so having a fire with my husband to reset was what the doctor ordered.

I finally released Heels and Nobs on itch. I hope you enjoy my simple cribbage game

I've decided to redo all my assets that were 16x16 px to 128x128 px. I figured the place where it will be 16x16 can handle a larger one and shrink it down, but where it is 128x128 looks so choppy with the tiny version.

Made all of the shields for the Healer and Warrior for my #srpg #StealingFromGaia

Downloaded #Godot source last night to tweak a preset. Turns out it wasn’t just for a node, but every Control had it. Got sidetracked reading functions, found some fun stuff (hello, Roman numerals). Not compiling it, but keeping it for reference.

I have a #gamedesign question, where should status effects go? I have up to 15 that could be seen at any given time (a lot I know, but the likely hood of all being seen at once is low) and want it to be possible to fit all of them.

I made my hunter's sprite!

Cooking up some animal parts for crafting in Stealing from Gaia.
Feathers, horns, hooves, even an owl eyeball (don't ask)
You'll make some wonderful gear with this lot.

My, and most I assume, biggest fear:
- "I made a great game! Took me years!"
- "How many did you sell?"
- "2.... my parents bought it."
Hard truth:

Success in indie game development is an exception [it always has been].

The market is oversaturated, and Gamepass is changing consumer behavior for the worse.

News says: "Never was so easy to develop a game".

Developers say: "Never was so hard to sell a game".

Both are right.
So... Steam Next Fest happened again, and the number of folks that have been disappointed by their game's performance seems to be growing higher and higher.

I looked at the number of demos launched on Steam in the window of each Next Fest the past five years, and.... 🤯

Here are some of the wood you'll use to craft everything from bows to shields. Have to have options when you’re wandering the corrupted wilds.

Decided to make some metal ore for my upcoming cozy game Stealing from Gaia. These will be used for making equipment like Swords or Heavy Armor.

I finally concepted out all my characters for my #RPG
The Healer is the most done because she has gone through the entire pipeline and I already have her pixel sprite ready to go. The rest are just concepts

My cribbage has been done for a while and I've graduated college, so on to a deck builder TRPG.

I'm looking up tutorial after tutorial, and all I'm getting is like UI and enemy AI. I just want to know how to get a card to work.... I have a template and can attach scripts to it. I'll keep hacking away until I figure it out I guess.

I think I'm done with my #cribbage game. I imagine there are things I could add, but idk. I truly think it's as good as I can make it right now

My #cribbage video game #heelsandnobs is a completely viable game that I could release now. I'm going to use the next few months to add fun polish and release it in May.

How important do you think themes/color palettes are?

I decided to change my logo to fit my company.
It's called Hidey Hole, because this is Nala's Hidey Hole.
She hides in there everyday, and it's her favorite spot to be. I know it's not perfect, yet, but it's a start that I can iterate on. I just want to create a safe space to return to.

What do you do while your game is in your playtester's hands?

‪@dragon1freak.bsky.social‬, I think I accomplished, well at least brighter buttons if not the burnt look.

I have 3 NPCs (enemies) for my game. They all have intense back stories.
I think I might have an option to read all of their stories on the main menu. I don't know if I'm going to give the character development, but it's very tempting....

No! No, I have to fix the two bugs and ship this game.
January 17, 2025 at 4:59 AM
I was re-watching my last video and saw that it was a little hard to read, so I think I made the options more clear.
What do y'all think?
