I made a book today that holds a list of things that make me happy. I made a tassel to go on it that’s bigger than the book because tassels also make me happy.

A photo of a 2” tag book that I made. I’m holding it in my flat right hand. It has magenta and teal watercolor clouds on the cover and says “Happiness” in black ink. Attached to the book via the hole in the tag is a giant magenta tassel. The tassel is almost three times the size of the book but the whole thing still fits in my hand.

Thinking about and naming things that make you happy in this moment is important. So today I wrote my list of happy things in this tiny book I made and then I made it a giant tassel because tassels also make me happy.

Also need to do a video of the weaving process. I feel like it will take so long I’ll need a separate camera instead of my phone!

Always! 🤣 My problem is I don’t have enough hands to do all the work I want to do. I’ve been doing some weaving but I also want to do more bookmaking and eco-dying. Here’s a prototype of a Turkish Map fold book I made last week and I have about 3 more prototypes I want to try on my short list.

I am a huge proponent of people touching my work. It’s something I’ve thought about a lot and since I work in books and paper and fiber, there’s gotta be a plan for that. Making things that people can’t touch is very off putting for me.
