i say all this to say, the concept of him eventually evolved into that of a 14th-15th century poet operating under the wing of an influential nobleman rather than a perpetually travelling troubadour (probably better for his leg, too, now that i think about it).

to go a step beyond, i'd argue he'd be more likely to introduce some sort of irony and mockery into beautiful descriptions rather than to write as if reality around him still at all possessed the beatitude supposedly dictated by his feelings - much like villon did.

-- i don't think the very schematic, impersonal in a way that is hard to explain quality of troubadour poetry would really befit him. he'd need a trend which would allow him a more personal use of the lyrical i, and one that isn't so exclusively tied to fin'amor alone.

although he could still be out there making egregious bird metaphors, painting every flower an "innocent white" and introducing his thoughts with abundant spring greenery, --

thing is, i don't think he'd write about being in love himself, assuming that would at all be his topic of choice, so much as his reflections regarding others' feelings as a passive observer.

      some context (1/?):
initially, i had him be a troubadour - simple enough, a concept i really liked, too. i did, however, eventually notice how little that fit him, at least beyond the aesthetics alone.
