This is among the most difficult of battles. In my senior year writing seminar we did class discussion on everyone's pieces. But the one who'd written it wasn't allowed to speak until the end to answer questions.

the lament

3 footsoldiers walking through a field of irregular white pillars in the middle of a dust storm. they are illuminated by the flashlight of a fourth offscreen. one of them is turned to the camera, having a conversation.
