Invisible

Even when told, "It's okay,"
nothing ever became okay.
Rolling on the floor, chewing tissue,
I thought it might distract me from the hunger.
Words have no power.
I want to believe they're meaningless,
but even though I barely knew their face,
those words kept me going.
