Vote Cyclopean: The Great Abyss for "Indie of the Year!"

This is a list of my currently released games, starting from the most recent. Right now I am working on Cyclopean. It's an old school CRPG based on Lovecraft's Dreamlands. Without getting too detailed about the gameplay, let's call it "Befriending cats in the underworld" for now.
To me it seems similar to what they did in Hyper Light Drifter. Maybe similar is the wrong word, but somehow adjacent to how they removed all text from the UI. They made it all intuitive, and introduced it slowly so you learned as you played.

Fascinating. Breaking down diverse, complex tasks into a simple set of rules seems like magic.

Lots of bugs fixed in the DEMO for Cyclopean II. Quality has been upgraded from shoddy to fair.

There is only one such dungeon in the demo, but I made it pretty deep so I hope that's enough.

I haven't actually updated the controller inputs yet. Some menus might not work...

Why thank you! I wouldn't have called it that, but I accept the compliment!

Easy to play, hard to master. Also, the physics based mechanics are super realistic.

It seems you were right and I could not find the demo link either. But now it should appear on the store page. I had t o restart Steam a couple times. I'm not sure what actually caused it to appear, so maybe a glitch in the system.

It might take a bit of time to become available, I'm not exactly sure how that works. But from my end it is saying released...

This looks fun! I will try it later today.

I am hoping to have a demo ready for Next Fest.

This looks like an epic encounter. There is something special about graphics that look great, but leave enough room for the imagination to run off on its own a bit.
Testing out some sprites for OgreLore. I'm liking how this big ogre turned out :)

I'm okay with the virtual one :)

It's definitely not what I had in mind, but it's also an interesting and different way to think about the concept. How to maintain a locations essence while updating it's physical parameters ... good question!

Are the Kingsfield games playable anywhere right now? I think they were PS1?

And if so, are they as hard as the Dark Souls games? I have trouble with those, even though I think they are pretty cool.

That sounds great!

True, I am familiar with a lot of Zelda games, but the maps seems to change from one to the next quite a bit. I pretty much stopped playing after Twilight Princess though.

I'm surprised this kind of thing isn't more common, or maybe just that I have not encountered it more often.
February 8, 2026 at 5:34 PM
Nice, interesting! I have not played them yet.

Do you have know any games that revisit the same locations through multiple installments? What are your favorites?
February 8, 2026 at 3:49 PM
I guess this happened to some degree with the Ultima games. Visiting and revisiting Britannia in Ultima IV, V and later installments could be seen as a similar kind of set up.

The sense of recognition was a key in the lore building. The Zone was no longer just the setting for a game, but it was a "real" place ... or more real than I expected it to be. The location became as or more important than the gameplay to me in many ways.

But it did not take long for me to realize that was a bad take. Being able to revisit familiar places offered something really unique, that I could not really put my finger on.

I could on one hand see people complain that they just reused all the environment art. This was one of my first thoughts when I played Clear Sky way back when...
