Last week, Microsoft announced it will be shutting down Skype on May 5th. Coincidentally, today marks exactly 11 years since we migrated to Slack. It’s interesting to look back at how communication tools have changed over the years.

We managed discussions through named group chats, but when Skype switched to a peer-to-peer model, it caused an issue: if only one person was online in the evening and someone else logged in first the next morning, messages wouldn’t be delivered.
