The shofar is blown daily during Elul to “wake” us up to self-reflection & prepare us for the HHDs.
While we are charged with relentless self-examination during Elul, it occurs within a relationship that is thoroughly grounded in love and compassion.

Indeed, it is far more pervasive. It is not limited to the older generation but rather the deliberate and willful ignorance of many, and this, despite years of advocacy, workshops, and educational sessions about racial and ethnic inclusivity in our communities.

July 27 1953: Nat’l Korean War Veterans Armistice Day. Remembering & Honoring my father, Sarge (obm), and all those who served in the Korean War.
Over 100,000 Black troops served in the U.S. armed forces in 1950 & grew to 600,000 by war's end. More than 5000 Black soldiers died during the conflict.

Appx 60,000 children born a yr on military bases abroad that are not considered US territories for purpose of citizenship. The 2020 Citizenship for Children of Military Members & Civil Servants Act grants them automatic US citizenship but is not retroactive.
