Still as confused as ever, but about more important things.
And you pulled out your Lumix L10 and snapped a photo of her, right?

Which will run with your next column so she can see who cares what your think?

Klein's comment, "I see the Epstein files as the after after after party for Davos," is the best take I've heard yet.

Chuck Schumer was instrumental in ensuring that the 2,000lb bombs kept flowing to Israel so that it could continue its genocide.

Only racism can explain his vicious indifference to the slaughter of Palestinian civilians.

I await Jonathan Greenblatt’s explanation of how this is not concerning.

In education we've been besieged by AI boosters (sadly including our AFT President, Randi Weingarten), because that's where the money is.

Here is a request from a large network of NYC schools asking for money to support AI college counselors.

Don't tell me they're coming after just the crap jobs.

Let's not forget his vote to effectively turn TikTok over to Trump allies (though surely his primary motive was to end all of those images coming out of the genocide in Gaza), or his support for Trump's favorite grift, crypto.

@bradlander.bsky.social will be better in every way.

Yeah, I think he was reacting too quick - my thread was definitely agreeing with his position.

I've been a long time fan (got there through @audreywatters.bsky.social), and I'm desperately hoping his predictions that the AI bubble will burst in 2026 come true.

Enshittification doesn't value customers. It values shareholders.
February 11, 2026 at 6:55 PM
Yes. AI has been around for much longer than ChatGPT, as I know you know.
February 11, 2026 at 6:53 PM
First, they don't have to pay a person to answer calls.
Second, many people give up and so the company doesn't have to issue a refund.

And then we have AI boosters pointing to this scenario and saying "see what AI can do? Isn't it amazing?"

Every time I use those chats, within 2 minutes I ask for a live agent. Of course, I have to wait a long time to get one, but the results are always better.

In other words, the AI bots are replacing people, but not because they are better at the job. Rather, the companies save money twice.

Clearly, AI is already putting people in customer assistance out of work - all those "chat with an AI rep" options, both on screen and over the phone.

But just because the tech able to interface with customers well enough that they are willing try it doesn't mean the tech is good.

Maybe you should also ask them to stop kidnapping children and using them as bait and locking them up in concentration camps?

I know you don’t have specific poll numbers for each of those actions but a competent political party would not have a hard time making the case to voters.

We're stuck in difficult times -- threats gets exaggerated, not least by the breathless fundraising texts that hype them.

OTOH, Trump follows through on these threats, and he has his own standing army.

We should be organizing a gen strike for when he tries to steal the election. That's our threat.

Someone tell @joshshapiropa.bsky.social people are comparing ICE detention centers to Nazi camps!

Gotta police those boundaries, dontcha know!
February 4, 2026 at 6:11 PM
Body cams can be an effective deterrent of brutality if:
1. Cops know the footage will be accessible to public/prosecutors and
2. Prosecutors intend to prosecute.
Neither is the case with ICE.

yeah - I hadn't realized it was a GJ indictment.

And the warrant for the FBI raid on Fulton County Elections office?

Which judge did sign the warrant for Don Lemon? For Georgia Fort?

For the Fulton County Election Board raid? The last is especially egregious since there had already been multiple judicial determinations that there was no probable cause to suspect fraud.

Aside from the humor (appreciated), this is an important question that I don't see being asked enough.

Judges are not supposed to approve warrants in the absence of probable cause, and they should be held accountable - at least in public opinion - when they ignore that requirement.
