In 2009, Gil Girard made little circles in the air with his finger in the general direction of my tattoo, and asked, "what's going on over there, butterflies?" He also let me know (sotto voce), "I can get you anything you want. I know people."

I regret not asking for a puppy.

I can't be mad, though. If I could pull this off on a whim, the amount of old men telling me to smile while I'm grocery shopping would drop considerably.

Google Photos, helpfully trying to match up photos to people I know, has asked if demon Mariah is me. I desperately want to say yes.
