About the Painting
I returned to Japan this year (after exploring their famous Japanese maple tree fall colors), this time to experience sakura -- the Japanese cherry blossom. This pink weeping cherry blooms after the abundant white cherry trees, and their delicate blooms are more rare and, therefore, more precious. This painting captures a weeping branch of pink cherry blooms with thick, expressive brush strokes and subtle color changes.

Inspired by the maple trees of Kyoto, Japan, this painting captures all the beauty of autumn with impressionistic color. You can feel the joy of autumn emanating from this painting. Maple trees are magnificent to paint, since their leaves range from pale green and golden yellow to cadmium red and rich purple, sometimes even on the same tree!
