also just coming back to this bc i got a 99% match on the medal: it's almost definitely a volkswanderung medal which is why IDing it was so fucking hard: there are a million of them and i dont think more than 1 of g's even exists probably so uh. whoops!

seriously i cant thank you enough for your help on this overall, i was going to drive myself crazy without another pair of eyes 😭 now my only issue is figuring out the trim but the person whose thread you linked earlier got it EXACT (like the same. down to the weaving pattern. its crazy.)

yeah the scale definitely reads differently to me, i can live with there being two slightly different widths but the design choice difference is ??

(also for what its worth a mutual linked me an image of the other side of the medallion. no idea if this helps at all LOL but there it is)

also bringing this photo back into this part of the thread to have it all in one place: this is clearly not the same as the other shoulder bridge (less black spacing + this one looks a bit more solid, though now i think ?? there might be stiching on the side as well lol) so ??? what on earth.

-[sash = he's the medic = reference to an earlier MV], and someone figured out that said ribbon is almost definitely a reference to a portuguese military award type thing. and...........the guitarist is half portuguese so it was 1000% intentional. like there are SO many little details...

you GET it then lol i really do appreciate it!! and i know that the costumers themselves put an insane amount of detail into the costumes - e.g. singer has crown buttons, but the lead guitarist has lyre insignias on his buttons + he has a specific ribbon on his sash-

okay i stand corrected this one definitely does look hand-embroidered [same detail shot thread that you linked earlier]. i know that they have 2 sets for each band member for the tour so ???

-killing me more is that the actual one REALLY looks like a solid piece to me and not fabric based on the amount of prop work i've done....which would-probably mean actually casting it myself (assuming its not vintage). which is not something i've done before and makes-

a) ough good outfit [though the aguillettes being off is killing the detail perfectionist in me a little bit but . you know]. im vindicated by them showing the progress pics and showing how they did the ends of the sleeves bc i was also thinking about doing them that way LOL

gdi why did i not think to check the fuckin subreddit LOL....rookie mistake on my part 😭 but also that year tracks with the medallions i was seeing via reverse image search so. we did it ! maybe.

(dies at shoulder boards being custom) i would believe that but boy howdy i do not want to make those

(that said the costume designer - now that ive given myself away LOL - is colleen atwood, and. well. you know the singer now im sure hahahaha. so if anyone was going to try and stick with a cohesive visual theme re: costuming details... it would be them in combination)

oh dw i expected that, i think i said...somewhere else in this thread (or to someone else. maybe. excuse my memory i'm Sick With Something at the moment alskghasf) that one of the costumers specifically had mentioned [on tiktok .] that the buttons and trim on this was vintage-

LMAO yes it's the singer's uniform specifically (the other members have variations on the uniform but no one else has...well, any of these details, the similarity is more in the uniform patterns but even then it's not much)

oh yeah there is for sure an aiguillette on this (< voice of someone who just learned what that was today), that's like the one part of this costume that im sure about LOL. forever glad for the photographer that took these detail shots.

ding ding ding on stage uniform! i would believe them making the bridges but i was trying to go for actual historical things first since one of the costume designers had specifically mentioned that the trim + buttons were explicitly vintage finds and not stuff they made For this

alas, image search thought it was ....a brooch. though it did at least maybe get closer on the medal which doesn't seem to be war-related at all (i was getting medals for...walking competitions?)

and AUGH that sounds like the worst...the thing that's most annoying for me on this (other than. well. the literal same problem you would have) is that there's a different version of this costume from like 20 years ago that is VERY different but is the main search result. dies

i can certainly check via reverse search! ig i didn't really think about that bc this is a professional photo of an event so i was worried reverse search was just going to send me back to the original photo 😅 like this reference angle i just...pulled from a photographer on insta who took it for a-

-to me to really make sense as just embroidery but i am definitely not an expert on that front [sorry see other picture for slightly diff reference angle LOL]
