The grand total of €275 euro was raised.
In the first few days of a similar campaign for Ukraine over €700 was raised - eventually it was thousands.

And this time Cottonhound got appalling abuse.

I'm fucking disgusted at the response tbh.

THANK YOU EVERYONE WHO DID BUY A WEE BANDANA!
mousketeer.bsky.social
"Free Palestine" dog bandanas still available.
Details of where to get them here.

(no - I'm not affiliated with the printers bar being a long standing customer of this small ethical Irish business).

This is Filo.
Once upon a time she was starving, bleeding, malnourished, and hiding in fear under an industrial wheelie bin.

Filo says #FREEPALESTINE

personalised bandannas available from Cottonhound on SpecialGifts.ie proceeds to the Irish Red Cross fund for Palestine.

Wasn't this fella blathering on about how government means making the tough choices, at the cost of popularity, while justifying a budget that rewards developers and screws middle income workers, people with disabilities, and the elderly just a few days ago?

Which means sometimes she is so considered and reflective she opens herself up to charges of not answering questions. She is answering, but in a way that contains nuance. Grown up answers from a woman who doesn't believe she has all the answers.

Heather strikes me as the kind of woman who is 'well meaning' - which means she knows best and if we would just do as she says everything would be grand. Also no intellectual but big on 'common sense" and "plain speaking". A bit thick really.
Connolly is the exact opposite...

Not if you intend to Paddy Hillary your way through it.
Bitta handshaking. Sign what's put in front of you. Read pre-approved speeches written by the government. Avoid dissolving the Dáil.

I think many people have serious concerns about data protection in Ireland.

Bizarrely, these concerns don't seem to be shared by journalists.

Why on earth would that be?

Big piece in POLITICO asking about the independence of Ireland's process of appointing people to its Data Protection Commission. There is deep unease in Brussels about Ireland appointing a former Meta lobbyist as Meta's watchdog. Now questions about who was involved.

Big Tech lawyer played key role in picking Ireland’s new privacy regulator
Former Meta lobbyist Niamh Sweeney will co-lead the Irish Data Protection Commission from mid-October.

I lived in England when Thatcher got the bright idea to sell off local authority housing, and prevented the building of replacements. It was a disaster.
Imagine my 'surprise' to end up witnessing the exact same thing in Ireland.
Sale of utilities was another deja poo moment.

Wait? Did he claim circumcision causes autism?
mousketeer.bsky.social
And no one is asking why is our infrastructure so poor? Who decided to underinvest for decades? Where did the money go?

It's like defence. Cries from govt about urgent need to spend millions. Who let it go to shit in the first place? We've hardly enough sailors to crew a currach. Why is that?
mousketeer.bsky.social
We need affordable secure local authority housing. Of the kind the State managed to build when we hadn't a collective pot to piss in, and was sold off never to be replaced. Ease pressure on private rentals, ease pressure on housing market.

Then no cake. This Sunday it's just a scone.
She's 91. Treats are rare.
Her neighbours are a retired couple (school principle & a staff nurse). They lunched in the café twice a week. That's now takeaway sandwiches once a week.
But HUZZAH for the VAT decrease.
mousketeer.bsky.social
Even the simple equation of more disposable income in people's pockets means people will eat out has escaped them.
Local indy café nr my Mam (and ironically the Taoiseach). It's not cheap but it's very good. On a Sunday she used to get a lrg cappuccino, scone, cake. That became sml cappuccino...

Decades ago I was a chef. In a high end, family owned place. Stock was delivered fresh daily. Fish from Ballycotton, organic veg etc from small local suppliers. Not bulk boxes of processed crap. Food was prepped and cooked on site.
Haulage gone up. Electricity gone up. Food gone up.
mousketeer.bsky.social
Meanwhile the increase in carbon tax immediately hits haulage impacting on supply costs.
Small cafés can't buy in bulk to mitigate this increase.
Unlike the major chains.
mousketeer.bsky.social
When will we see this in the mainstream media?
Have endless questions on the news channels?
Will Heather be grilled about other forms of tax she would be prepared to avoid paying?
Humphreys has avoided a property tax on old office
She could face criminal prosecution under laws introduced when she was a government minister.

And yet, a former minister for Justice and Fine Gael TD literally put up a fake AI document on Twitter in an attempt to prop up a smear story with more holes than a wheel of emmental. The same story that raised garda vetting concerns no journalists will investigate.
mousketeer.bsky.social
I was sitting there saying "G'wan Heather. Tell us it's playing the Lambeth Drum. I dare ya!"
mousketeer.bsky.social
Was just telling someone about that. This puts it better.
mousketeer.bsky.social
True. But that wouldn't plug the Garda to Journo data pipeline.
mousketeer.bsky.social
Seems like Journalists can get their hands on any kind of data they want in Ireland.
And as usual the government are worse than useless.

Is the media running amok?

Dodgy one here from the Govt.

This peculiar and alarming.

Labour leader @ivanabacik.bsky.social Ivana Bacik asks Justice Minister Jim O'Callaghan what he has done to ensure the DPC finally acts against the data free-for-all that sends people's movements to countless data brokers.
