Video demiurge and hopeful writer. Board games and video games are the things I do the video about!
Just finished Murder at Mt. Fuji by Shizuko Natsuki - it was a pleasant little read with a fun presentation of a murder mystery. Seeing the cover-up first and then watching that get unwound was interesting. At times it felt a little stilted and awkward, but still a pleasant jaunt.

In my ongoing procrastinating writing my next video... instead of doing that I spent all day making an interactive spreadsheet to act as the score sheets for the Flamme Rouge Grand Tour expansion (that i now finally have)
I just need my friends to humour me with lots of games of Flamme Rouge now!

Just finished Obra Dinn and it is great! There are a few people that involve a bit of trial and error as they are never directly addressed or seen in a way to distinguish them from others (or I'm just dumb), but the game is this great puzzle.
Small strides turn into a sprint as pieces fall in place!

The last few evenings I was meant to be writing a video script about Hades 2... but I also started playing The Return of the Obra Dinn, and it is so incredibly good! I just love solving my little boat mysteries and it's all I'm thinking about!
I won't give up until I've named every last person!

Joined late to a meeting because I was finishing Grapples of Wrath by the ever brilliant @abeewords.bsky.social - a fun, witty and delightful book that was a joy to read, even on the cold mornings on the bus when my hands were frozen! If you love Ace Attorney then you'll love this.

I have made a brand new video! I take a look at Once Upon A Katamari, the latest injection of liquid fun that is the Katamari Damacy games.
Can you believe I filmed this back in November? Yes... yes I can.

My new year's resolution of "get strong, kill god" is not off to a great start as I'm fairly certain I've just snapped a ligament in my finger while bouldering.
Not like I had a video project about climbing that I needed to do and record....

Just finished reading No Longer Human by Osamu Dazai.
This will probably turn me into a walking red flag, but this might be one of my favourite books ever. Something entirely relatable with the terrible person portrayed in these pages. Oddly left me feeling seen, for once.

Because I'm really cool, I have spent a lot of my New Year's Eve playing an 8 round game of John Company!
The most successful we've ever been, I came last!

This is the first time my "to read" pile has been this small! Although, there are other books that are coming out that will get added to this, so it will never truly be over.
And yes, I have been going through my moody Japanese-lit era.

I recently treated myself to an interesting looking fantasy novel with Blood Ober Bright Haven by M. L. Wang and it was really good! Anyway engaging page turner that is sometimes a bit on the nose with its messaging and exposition, but was still a great and engaging story

Finally got around to doing some video editing. Cat stood on the power switch for my main multi-tap and turned everything off. Entire evening's work gone.
I love him so much, but oh my god. Why?

I've been playing a lot of Hades 2 recently (instead of editing a video, oops) and while writing my book today I have name dropped two of the three Fates, Prometheus, and stopped myself from mentioning Charon, instead of the normal Pale Horse Rider.
This character didn't even do Classics!

Just saw Wolf Alice at The O2 and it were great!
You don't reckon Ellie Rowsell fucks with 32-year old NHS admin staff who are really nerdy and probably a bit autistic, do you?

Just finished Carmilla by Sheridan Le Fanu. A delightful and quick read of gothic horror. The steady build of the mysterious visiting girl was great! Just a very good novella that doesn't overstay its welcome while maintaining the threat of the vampire (an issue I had with Dracula)

I've finally released a new video!
That's right, I'm taking a look at Hollow Knight Silksong and how high expectations and niche cultures shifting into mass appeal can end up causing strife when niche difficulties might not appeal to everyone.

Donated blood today with a speedy time of 4:46 - I was told off repeatedly throughout and told to slow down as my flow rate was too high.
Apparently, over 100ml per minute means I'm possibly dying and is bad... and not like... a cool way to get a new PB.

I have FINALLY finished The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle by Murakami - at times it was really enthralling, others incredibly annoying and tedious.
After two books I've decided I just might not like Murakami novels.

The problem in writing a book where sad things happen a lot... is that sad things happen A LOT and people think about sad things a bunch and oh no, you're writing chapter after chapter of misery and it somehow feels wrong to insert a dumb comedy chapter.
It is just despair all the way down.

I loved Expedition 33 and I hope it wins game of the year. I think it deserves it. It was great and it's great to see a narrative game handle interesting themes again, specifically ones I really like.
The issue is that fans of the game are awful and insane and embarrassing.

This time of year is always super weird because it gets so immediately dark while still being kind of warm. It's barely gone half past five!
Anyway, I'm sat in Hyde Park by myself reading, killing time before a date.

Dating life update: everything is bad.
Something inside me hurts.
It twists and drags everything with it into a painful dense pip.
The only solace is it is another experience to fuel my writing, another part of me to remove and trap in a book somewhere.
I just wish I were a better writer.

I think I'm going through a big juicy bout of depression right now.
The positive is that it is giving me all sorts of writing material and the urge to reinvent my video style.
The negative is the great malaise that makes me want to do nothing but wallow.

Dating can be great! Sometimes you meet an incredible person that you want to talk to forever.
Then further down the line you're at work nursing a hangover worrying if you managed to ruin everything by being too neurotic during your most recent date.

At the start of this week I finished writing a chapter that I ended up really liking. Solidly tight. Great stuff.
Anyway, the rest of this week I've been writing a chapter that is probably utter garbage.
I just need the first draft done so I can then finally fix everything.
