Just about felt up to going to see Wicked (Part 1) at the cinema tonight and my only note would be this:

There isn’t enough Jonathon Bailey. 😍

I have felt so rubbish today that I have spent most of it by the fire reading or snoozing.

This room. 🥰

Australia is planning a social media ban for under 16s and honestly, while the detail needs thought, I’ve been thinking for some time now that I’d welcome a move like this.

Interested in what others think.

I haven’t done a single bit of work for most of the half term break. I had loads of family time, caught up with friends, pottered through some of our favourite towns (and associated shops), ate too much, decorated, had a brew or two with my grandad, and generally recharged. 1/3

I agreed to be the Quiz Master at the PTA’s Quiz Night, so I’ve donned my jazziest jacket and I’m hoping not to disappoint!! 🤣

Started at 6:30am this morning and will finish at 10pm… I will sleep tonight!! 😴

Does anyone have chickens in school? If so, would you mind sharing your set up / risk assessment?

One of the most challenging elements of leadership for me so far is staffing (ensuring cover is in place for training, appointments, absences, etc.). It’s just so complex, especially at pinch points whereby you’re dealing with several issues at once.

What do other senior leaders feel?

As the second week of being a DHT draws to a close, I can’t help but feel so incredibly lucky to do this job. I have loved every manically busy, 100 miles per second, pulled-in-every-direction moment. Unsurprisingly, the highlights have been the children, as I knew they would be… 1/n

🧠 Inset training.
🥞🥐🍞 Organised welcome breakfast for teachers.
✍️ Delivered a session on handwriting.
🧘🏼‍♂️Everything felt really positive and everyone seemed really chilled.

After 6 weeks with my own kids I would like to make this abundantly clear.

PRIMARY STAFF DO NOT GET PAID ENOUGH!

Give them all the money… all if it.

We put a new twist on this commonly found classroom feature today. Instead of linking the children to their home countries, I asked them to choose somewhere they wanted to visit. They’ll be asked to research their destinations this term ❤️🗺️ #lovegeography #primary #ks2 #displays

Just posted new blog on Bluesky and not (yet) on Twitter. Be interesting to see engagement. Will I fold and put it on Twitter too? Please help me avoid the temptation by reposting here!

You don’t have to follow Ian to win, but I would anyway - he’s a good egg. 🥚

We still have a few more books to add, and we’re not 100% happy with how they’re laid out, but you can really get the vibe. 😍 Once of the most successful things we’ve done in this house for sure. 🥰

And now for the books… 😍

The library of dreams is in full swing now! 😍 I am hoping we’ll have books on those shelves in the next day or two. Glossing and ceiling to go. 🙌🏻

Oh and yes, that is a make shift kitchen in the background - the height of interior design as you can see. 🤣

Given to me a decade ago, these handmade gifts are total treasures.

The flowers from a girl who was probably the most talented writers I have ever taught (she was 7 years old!!).

The plate from a boy who LOVED coaches and, at 6 years old, could tell me the difference between a coach and a bus.

Good luck to my secondary colleagues today. I just dropped my partner off at school to see his children’s results and to be around for them as they receive them. I see first hand the hard work and dedication that goes into securing these grades for/with children. Whatever happens, well done. 👏🏻

This is a perfect example of how great it is here - I asked this on X weeks ago and got much less engagement and didn’t get signposted to any of the current suggested resources. 🙌🏻 All this despite having over 9k less followers.
Each week we have a ‘pocket of pedagogy’ on our staff newsletter. I would love to start signposting staff to podcasts, blogs, TED Talks, articles, etc. I have some ideas but I’d be really interested to hear what others have listened to, watched or read that has impacted your teaching.
