I kind of like this @blueskyplace.bsky.social place—and taking my time building (almost) from scratch, but from a place of wisdom and experience. I’ll follow back likeminded people if you’re interested…and ok if not! (Scenes from my afternoon #walk )

The Body
By Keith J. Powell Flies zipped around the house like a sour mood. Always there and gone like a suspicion that couldn’t quite be squashed. “There’s something dead in this house,” he said.  “It’s yo…

Once a summer, I’ll take on some tortured poet’s vision of the underworld—this summer, Rimbaud’s ‘A Season in Hell.” His bio is bananas (poetry, too), and it’s no surprise he and Whitman acted as muses for Ginsberg’s ‘Howl.’ And he did it all when he was a teenager 😳 #poetry #reading #booksky #poet

Wow. Quite the ride. Lots of thinking to do…But even with unanswered questions that remain (some about plot, some about intent, etc)…the impact of this book is real. I taught ‘Huck’ for years (not recently), and this made that novel better. #literature #americanliterature #englishteachers #booksky

Why did I wait so long to read this? Why am I reading it in a bad generic British accent? Why is it so good? #Ishiguro #KazuoIshiguro #literature #reading #Booksky #books

Returning to this classic after some time. First read it in college (This one I purchased in 1992 to teach in my own class). Purposeful, meditative character study, nuanced take on human nature during apocalypse, original for the era it was written in. Highly recommend. #Booksky #literature #dys

The challenge: In March, post a book by a woman author every day (or as often as you can).

Rules:

It has to be a book you’ve read.
It has to be a book you enjoyed or learned something from.

Misty morning walk…”The entrance to the path was like a sort of arch leading into a gloomy tunnel made by two great trees that leant together, too old and strangled with ivy and hung with lichen to bear more than a few blackened leaves.” — JRR Tolkien #tolkien #JRRT #LOTR #walk

On this #nationalgirlsandwomeninsportsday I want to highlight these two amazing athletes and coaches, and salute all the amazing women who have played with and for them, who have mentored and been mentored by them, and who continue to change the world and make it a better place for all of us.
