They rolled this out in the UK last year, and for me nothing has changed. In all the servers I’ve been in Discord has never once asked to verify my ID.

Nintendo fans care too much about the sales for nintendo games, its fun to look at but making them judge on what game you should get next is unethical
It’s annoying to post a list of fun games for a system and have someone comment there’s no “system sellers” in the list. So what? System sellers are great but there is fun to be had in games that may score in the average range, or sometimes even worse, as well.
