Many congratulations to Astley & Tyldesley's Emily Burgess on winning the British Women's Cycle Speedway title for the third time, at Southampton on Monday. This was despite breaking a collar bone eight weeks earlier, which significantly affected her preparations for the Championship.

Great news is that the UCI has announced that Indoor Cycle Speedway will be included in the programme for the 2027 Super World Cycling Championships in France. The Championships will be held between 24 August and 5 September.

I thought my days as a cycle speedway rider were long behind me. But, Astley & Tyldesley had plenty of riders missing on Sunday for the matches at Hull, so I couldn't let the team down. Two matches, eight races completed, as I became the oldest rider ever to represent the club. Pity we lost though.
