A friend filed a claim with the City of #LNK after a limb from a street tree crushed her car during one of last year's windy storms. Those claims are *rarely* approved. Yesterday she found out they're paying her claim! Why? I can't say for sure, but I suspect 1/2

I ask this with no snark: *what* war on protein?
Protein has never been an enemy. There have been wars on fat, sugar, salt, and many other micro- and macronutrients. But when was protein ever the bad guy? It's like saying we are ending the war on water.

I received a certified letter today from the IRS regarding an amended tax return they received on *DECEMBER 16, 2022*. They snuck in just under the 3 year mark. At this rate, if I reply I'll be over 50 years old when I receive their response ... if the IRS (and USA) still exists, that is.

It's amusing to me that a significant portion of the spam email I receive promises Omaha Steaks in the subject. Apropos, considering Omaha Steaks' comparability to Spam, and both the emails and Omaha Steaks' marketing are scammy.

Friendly reminder: phone companies could stop calls from spoofed numbers any time. The technology and standards exist and are implementable today. The companies, with the backing of a complicit FCC, are actively choosing to allow spammers and scammers to make calls using your phone number.

I finished my annual Thanksgiving Day viewing of Planes, Trains, and Automobiles. It's interesting how my feelings about the characters change over time. In particular (and unsurprisingly) Del's relationship to his wife hits differently these days.
