I think I need to be more brave. I’m so scared to just… paint? Which is odd and a new anxiety for me. So! I let myself sketch more nightmare buddies (on the right), I let myself sketch some plants (middle/yellow), but I’m just going to paint florals on the prepped green-gouache (leftmost). #TradArt

Why do all these successful directors hate movies, and especially hate the people (the actors, designers, and technicians etc.) who make movies so much? James Cameron, Darren Aronofsky, Tyler Perry? I’ll just never understand the utter disregard and contempt they throw at their own industry.

5 wee paintings! Not the kitties I thought I would be working on today (really, on my To Do list for today one of the pips is “paint cats”). It was really fun to throw out painterly rules and go back and forth between gouache and watercolour!

Do you ever sit down to paint a subject you’re comfortable with and it’s like… it’s like you’ve never heard of paint? Let alone used it? I am a painter! I have painted cats before! But I’m staring at 4 little sketches all ready to go and my brain is going durrrrrrrrr durrrrrrrrrrrrrrrp

Trying something new! I am enjoying the high contrast, but I might soon treat myself to a new brush and new black ink. These are all painted primarily using gouache with just a bit of ink for the outline of each vase.

I bought myself a little treat! A Kuretake brush pen! While using it today I learned that I have to be more intentional with my strokes, and I feel that I was a bit heavy handed. However in deciding to draw something abstract & fun I feel both accomplished and happy to have a finished piece!

Well… it’s almost time for a haircut. I have one scheduled (huzzah!) but I have no idea what to do with myself (not-huzzah!). Leave it? Lob? Wolf? Pixie?! I just don’t know. Like. What would suit me, express my inner self, be easy to care for, and slightly allude to some bog-leaning tendencies?
