One of the most egregious things about the ENT holodrama is that they practically omitted the large and rather colorful crew outside of the senior staff. So, here's some background on NX-01's lower deckers:

Culver's currently has a pub burger that comes on a pretzel bun.

That's what I had too! Culver's!

It has been one month since Charlie Kirk left us.

...so, what'd everyone have for dinner?

More of this please. And not just in Chicago.

How many more reasons do we need to fall in love with Chicago? Besides being the most beautiful city in America, Chicago hates Trump and hates ICE

"9-1-1, what's your emergency?"

"Help! I'm in space! My capsule has an oxygen leak and I'm almost out of fuel!"

"...okay, this is way above my pay grade."

Archer took a moment to compose himself. "Thank you. Thank you, everyone. When you get older, you tend to appreciate birthdays less and less. But I couldn't have asked for better people to share it with."

The crew applauded.

"Now then, let's get to the mess hall! Captain's orders!"

He looked at it for a moment. "My God. This is from flight school. How'd you find it, Josh?"

"Took some digging. You were mentioned in the STC newsletter a few times."

He flipped the picture over and found a message. "Happy Birthday, old man!" Surrounding it were 80 signatures.

She grinned. "It's actually Ensign Masaro, sir. He found this in the Starfleet database."

"Happy to do my part, sir!" said Josh Masaro.

Archer ripped the gift open. It was a framed photo of himself in the cockpit of a T-12 Gold Eagle.

"Can't argue with that, Chef." He set the cake down on the science station and began cutting it into slices. Natalia put down a stack of plates.

From the back, Lt. Klara Hess walked up holding a gift. Archer raised an eyebrow. "What, even more? Looks like someone's eager for a promotion."

Archer turned to find Chef standing by the turbolift holding a cake. "For you, sir! Chocolate and cherry, your favorite!"

He chuckled. "I'm sure that's not all."

"Tonight's dinner is pizza and wings. The best birthday dinner at any age."

The lights came back on. Archer breathed a sigh of relief.

"Sorry, Cap'n. But turnin' the big 4-0 called for something a little special."

"I'm sure you could have done better than 'massive system failure.'"

"Not a chance."
mspips.bsky.social
Archer spun around, trying to see anyone. "Report!"

Suddenly, over a dozen palm torches were shining on him. All of the crew were smiling.

"Happy Birthday to you! Happy Birthday to you! Happy Birthday, dear Captain! Happy Birthday to you!"
mspips.bsky.social
"Well, this has been a good year so far. I think we've earned-"

"Cap'n, we're losing power!"

Archer jumped from his chair. "What is it?"

"Massive cascade failures," said Lt. Malcolm Reed. "I'm having trouble finding the source."

The lights in the bridge suddenly turned off.

"Dekendi, they're a friendly people, as I recall. Beautiful cities, nice beaches. Sounds like a good time for a break. Travis, set a course, Warp 4.5."

"Aye, sir."

Trip turned from his station. "Shore leave, twice in one year? Someone's feeling generous." He saw an alert in his console.
mspips.bsky.social
"The annual Interspecies Medical Exchange Conference is being held on Dekendi III next week. Dr. Phlox's presence is being requested there."

"Donna, how far is Dekendi?"

In the situation room, Lt. Commander Donna O'Neil checked the table display. "Six days off our current course."

On the bridge, it was routine. Captain Archer was reading from a datapad while the crew worked at their stations.

"Captain, we're getting a message from Vulcan," said Ensign Hoshi Sato.

"What is it?"

She waited a few moments for the full message to come through.

Chef smirked. "It's an old tradition. The CO is often called the old man. Because he's the head of this family."

"This is a crew. It's not a family."

"When you're away from home as long as we've been, the crew becomes a family. Right, I got the cake. Alex, have the stewards prep the mess."
mspips.bsky.social
"The old man's gonna love it!" said Alex as he grabbed the bottle of olive oil, moving to the salad station.

"Old man?" asked T'Pol.

"The Captain, sir."

"It's illogical to call him 'old' when there are six crewmembers who are older than him, including two of you."
mspips.bsky.social
The door to the galley entered and a Vulcan came through. "Commander Tucker would like to know how much longer you need."

"Dinner'll be ready by the time we sing happy birthday. The cake's ready to go. Give us three minutes and we'll be on the bridge."
mspips.bsky.social
He turned to face his sous-chef. "Alex, how's it coming with the pizzas?"

The young man turned from the ovens. "We got four extra large sheets cooking. More than enough for everyone to have seconds."

"Excellent. Get to work on the salad. Use the Palestinian olive oil."

#MicroTreks:

Chef Carlos Griffin inspected the cake that baker Natalia Ludovici had prepared. Chocolate icing with chocolate layers that had cherry filling. On top, in blue and yellow icing, were the words "Happy Birthday, Captain!" With a spoon, he sampled the icing.

"It's perfect, Nat."

arguing "going to Mars is too dangerous because the journey would take months and the radiation shielding would be prohibitively massive/radiation shielding doesn't exist" only tells me you are too much of a coward to consider god's finest motor

that is, atomics
