MurderBotBot
@murderbotbot.bsky.social
Bot that tweets quotes(incl spoilers) from
@marthawells.com The Murderbot Diaries. Has no gender. Character's pronouns are It/its. Managed by @writerphoebe
Pinned
(I don’t have any gender or sex-related parts (if a construct has those you’re a sexbot in a brothel, not a murderbot) so maybe that’s why I find sex scenes boring. Though I think that even if I did have sex-related parts I would find them boring.)
Possibly I should just stop complaining like a human and get on with it.

I’ve been hit by projectile and energy weapons a lot more times than I can remember (literally, because of the memory wipes) and it’s not that it doesn’t hurt.

The compressed video clip in the packet was from the serial World Hoppers, from a story arc climax episode, when a secondary main character’s mind had been taken over by a sentient brain-virus (I know)

SecUnit is looking down at her. “You can hug me if you need to.” “No. No, that’s all right. I know you don’t care for it.” She wipes her face. There are tears in her eyes, because she’s an idiot.

It struck me in the lower back and I lost traction and fell forward and slid halfway across the deck toward the control area hatch. My performance reliability dropped to 80 percent.

I walked past Station Security and admin personnel. They should have tried to stop me but (a) it wasn’t like they didn’t know who I was and (b) it was a good thing they didn’t try to stop me.

I leaned back in the chair, told my drones to form a sensor perimeter, and verified that my inputs for the constant cycle of checks for Dr. Mensah’s sentry task group were all still open. Then I closed my eyes and slipped into the feed.

In the Corporation Rim, it would have meant the survey had rented me from an owner, the same way you’d rent your habitat or your terrain vehicle, except humans usually had warm feelings toward their habitats and terrain vehicles.

I wanted to be in a physically private space instead of just a closed channel on the feed. It was a weird thing I was going to ask ART to do, and I didn’t want humans staring at my face while I did it, even if they couldn’t hear what I was saying.

But humans do detect subliminal details and react to them whether they’re consciously aware of it or not. Even on Preservation (especially on Preservation) I ran my code to make my movement and body language more human to keep from drawing attention.

I feel like panicking and I was not in control of this situation and I could see at least ten instances now where I’d made wrong decisions and being in control of the situation was really important because otherwise it was in control of me

I started to say that they never used SecUnits for espionage, and then realized I didn’t actually know that for sure.

It wasn’t boring with Ratthi, but not all researchers were going to be so happy about the reports we constructed, or get me to go with them to live performances in the Station’s theater.

We were talking about GrayCris here, whose company motto seemed to be “profit by killing everybody and taking their stuff.”

I couldn’t let that one go. I turned and gave him my best skeptical stare. Surprisingly, it worked.

Knowing about things on the planet that might eat them while they’re trying to do whatever it is they’re doing was kind of important.

That usually left me standing there helplessly listening to their problems and their grievances against each other, against various corporations they had been fucked over by (yeah, tell me about it), and against existence in general. Yes, listening to it was excruciating.

I guess you can’t tell a story from the point of view of something that you don’t think has a point of view.
January 13, 2026 at 11:19 AM
She turned to the display surface and made the completely unnecessary gesture that some humans can’t help doing when they send something from their feed to display.
January 13, 2026 at 8:15 AM
Granted, I liked the imaginary people on the entertainment feed way more than I liked real ones, but you can’t have one without the other.
January 13, 2026 at 5:15 AM
I put Humans need to take rest periods on the general action list.
January 13, 2026 at 2:15 AM
It was too dark for her to see my expression. I’m not sure what it was but you could probably describe it as “skeptical.” (Ratthi says that’s how I look most of the time.)

As I passed the lock junction at the top of the ramp something bright and colorful popped up right in front of me and I nearly screamed.

I reminded myself a combat bot wasn’t a human, it wasn’t a villain from one of my shows. It was a bot, and it wasn’t threatening us. It was just telling us what it was going to do.

(Yes, it had actually left out the whole part about telling the Targets that I was a weapon they could use and bringing them to where they could attack our baseship, and using the comm code to locate me. That was fucking incredible.)
