I was in a law firm with this guy. He didn’t seem like a bootlicking racist then. I mean, he was. He just didn’t seem like it. There was still at least the pretense of shame about it. Not anymore. They brag about it.

We worship them. Elevate them to a place of reverence. Assume they are smarter and work harder than everyone else. We elect them to offices they have no business being near. Their words are treasured as wisdom. They are protected by laws written by politicians beholden to their support.

This is not a coincidence. It never has been. The former DOJ investigated after Breonna Taylor’s death and wrote an entire 50 page report about the racism that is part of the core fiber of Louisville policing. The resulting Consent Decree was slow-walked ultimately to its death. There will be more.

These borders, far more important than a fence in a desert, are under attack from within - from our side of the wall. Attacked by the President. Attacked by the federal judges he appointed who rubber stamp his Administration’s orders 93% of the time. The call is coming from inside the house.

I’m well-acquainted with the real world and exigencies of politics. I understand both federal funding on the one hand and the fact that any such demand may have little effect on the other. But leadership is about message sending. Allowing them here, cooperating even, is already sending the wrong one

Today JCPS Law & Government and Pre-Law Magnet students came to the law school for a day as law students. This diverse, engaged, and brilliant group is ready to tackle and repair our world. Give them the space. Give them the opportunity. Give them time. The kids are alright.

As a lawyer often called upon to distinguish apparently identical situations and as a #BuffaloBills fan I can say without reservation that the “interception” on Saturday in Denver is completely and utterly indistinguishable from the “catch” in Chicago on Sunday.
They’re the same thing.

As a lawyer often called upon to distinguish apparently identical situations and as a #BuffaloBills fan I can say without reservation that the “interception” on Saturday in Denver is completely and utterly indistinguishable from the “catch” in Chicago on Sunday.

I know “blah blah blah we gotta‘ just appeal to these people to win the next election” and that’s why we don‘t have healthcare, transit, or funded education and the Fascists ultimately won. We’ve been doing the same thing for decades. Time to try harder.

1/ Kentucky, through its elected leaders, and Louisville, via the same (Democrats included) are collaborating with our Fascist president’s foot soldiers. There’s no need to compare ICE with Nazi SS or Brownshirts.
