The Mariners, cursed with never being allowed to play in the World Series, are attempting to create some sort of Sisyphean postseason purgatory, where they never advance, but never score or allow a run, forever. The game is eternal. But eventually they will learn they are mortal.

One thing the History of Rock and Roll in 500 songs has clarified for me is that much of the 60s and early 70s rock I don't like is the "San Francisco sound". I absolutely love L.A.-based sunshine pop and psych pop, but have never liked the bluesy, noodly stuff, and so much of that is SF bands.

This town is going to throw our biggest parade in history if the Mariners get to the World Series, win or lose. We will throw an infrastructure-challenging catharsis parade in honor of them losing the World Series if it comes to that.
